Five Top Tips For Organizing Your Home

When life gets hectic, it can be very easy to allow clutter to build up in your home. To make things even worse, once your house gets really messy it can be difficult to even know where to get started. However, don’t worry. The following 5 easy tips can help you get started with organizing your house to eliminate a lot of chaos from your life.

1. Everything Should Have a Specific Place

When everything has a place, then you know exactly where it goes when you are done using it. You will also know exactly where to look for it the next time that you want to use it. When we say everything, we mean everything, from bobby pins to dinner plates.

2. Utilize All Of Your Available Space

Having a sufficient amount of storage space is an important part of being able to find everything. Your home undoubtedly has many nooks and crannies that can be transformed into storage solutions if you get creative. Get some storage bins that will fit underneath your bed; get furniture that contains storage in it; get hooks to make good use of vertical space. You just need to get creative and find the potential that your space has to offer, instead of the problems.

3. Keep Like Items Together

It might sound simple, but it really does work. When you store like items together, it is much easier to remember where they are. So don’t store pens with spoons – think about things logically and place items serving a similar purpose together in an area where you will most likely use them.

4. Get Rid of Things

Everything has that moment when they starting to pack to move yet again and start to wonder, why do I have all of this junk anyway?” Whether it a movie ticket stubs that you have saved from high school or clothes that don’t fit you any longer, the clutter can continue piling up over time and end up being a huge headache eventually. If you don’t use it on a regular basis, or it doesn’t fit you any longer, throw it away, give it away or donate it. Just don’t hold onto it any longer. If it isn’t something you really need, then there isn’t space for it in your house.

5. 15 Minute Cleaning

Incorporate cleaning into your regular routine. If you devote 15 minutes per day to quickly pick up, you won’t have as much housework that needs to be on your cleaning day. Put your clothes in your hamper, put the dishes in the sink, and don’t forget to make your bed! This all takes just a few minutes.
